Sarah Mitchell

My Story

Sarah Mitchell is a health journalist and proud single mother by choice living in Portland, Oregon.

After spending over $12,000 on two failed IUI cycles at a fertility clinic, Sarah discovered at-home insemination and conceived her daughter Lily on her third attempt using a CryoBaby kit with frozen donor sperm.

That experience transformed her understanding of fertility care and inspired her to help other women navigate the same journey with better information and fewer unnecessary expenses.

Before joining MakeAMom, Sarah spent eight years writing about women's health for regional publications.

She holds a degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.

When she's not writing, Sarah can be found hiking Forest Park with Lily, experimenting with sourdough recipes, or volunteering with a local single mothers' support group she co-founded.
