✓ YMYL Health Content — Reviewed by board-certified physicians

MakeAMom publishes fertility health content that falls within the "Your Money or Your Life" (YMYL) category as defined by Google's Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines. We take this responsibility seriously. Every article we publish is subject to the review standards described on this page.

Our Editorial Mission

MakeAMom's editorial mission is to provide accurate, evidence-based, and clinically reviewed information about at-home insemination, fertility, reproductive health, and family building. We serve individuals, couples, LGBTQ+ families, and solo parents who deserve access to clear, honest information — regardless of budget or proximity to a fertility clinic.

We do not publish content designed solely to drive product sales. Our editorial decisions are made independently of our commercial interests. Where our products are relevant to a topic, we disclose that clearly.

Content Creation Process

Step 1: Research & Drafting

All articles are researched against current peer-reviewed literature. We prioritize:

Articles are drafted by qualified contributors with relevant expertise in their topic area. We do not use AI-generated content without human expert review and substantial editorial revision.

Step 2: Medical Review

All articles covering reproductive medicine, fertility treatment, medication, clinical outcomes, or health claims are reviewed by a qualified medical professional before publication. Our primary medical reviewer is Prof. Edgar Mocanu, MD PhD FRCOG FRCPI, Professor of Reproductive Medicine at RCSI Dublin and President of the International Federation of Fertility Societies.

Specialist reviews may also be conducted by:

Nutrition and dietary content is reviewed by registered dietitian Ro Huntriss, MSc RD.

Step 3: Fact-Checking & Source Verification

Before publication, all statistical claims, medical statements, and cited research are verified against primary sources. Statistics are hyperlinked to their source where possible. We do not accept "common knowledge" as a substitute for cited evidence.

Step 4: Publication & Dating

Every article displays its publication date and, where applicable, its last substantive review date. A "date modified" change reflects a meaningful content update — not a cosmetic edit or metadata change.

Our Medical Reviewers

We only work with verifiable, credentialed medical professionals. All reviewer credentials are independently verifiable through institutional websites, PubMed, ResearchGate, LinkedIn, or national medical registries.

Update & Correction Policy

Medical information changes as new research is published. We review time-sensitive content (success rates, clinical guidelines, treatment protocols) annually. If we discover a factual error, we correct it promptly and update the "dateModified" field in the article.

To report an error or request a correction, email contact@makeamom.com with the URL and the specific claim you believe is inaccurate. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure

Commercial Relationship Disclosure

MakeAMom is a commercial company that sells products. Our editorial content is published on the same website where our products are sold. Readers should be aware of this relationship when evaluating our content.

We mitigate this conflict through the following safeguards:

Reviewer Independence

Our medical reviewers are affiliated with independent academic and clinical institutions. They do not receive ongoing retainer contracts, equity compensation, or commissions tied to content performance or product revenue. Their names and credentials appear on our site only because they have agreed, in writing, to have reviewed specific content for accuracy.

Advertising & Sponsored Content

MakeAMom does not currently publish paid sponsored content or advertiser-funded articles. All blog content is produced solely for educational and informational purposes. If this changes, sponsored content will be clearly labeled as such.

What We Do Not Diagnose or Prescribe

MakeAMom content is for informational purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or a prescription. Our content does not replace consultation with a licensed healthcare provider.

Fertility health is complex and individual. Statistics we cite (e.g., success rates, typical hormone levels, treatment outcomes) represent population averages from clinical studies — they are not predictions of individual outcomes. Always consult a qualified reproductive medicine specialist before making treatment decisions.

Sources & Citations

We cite primary sources wherever possible. Where in-text citations are not included, our medical reviewers have verified the factual accuracy of claims against current literature. We do not cite secondary sources (other blogs, non-peer-reviewed websites) as evidence for medical claims.
